Matt Holland, MBA
Matt is an entrepreneur and business strategy expert. He is the founder of Quickload Terminals Inc., a company developing logistics facilities at the Port of Prince Rupert, and an investor in several private technology companies. Matt is a former Director of The Boston Consulting Group, and for several years was head of its Canadian practice. He is the co-author of the book Innovation Nation: Canadian Leadership from Java to Jurassic Park. Matt earned his BA from St. Michael’s College in The University of Toronto where he won the Principal’s medal, followed by an MBA from the Queen’s University School of Business. He is a director and Chair of Career Edge.
Barry Pickford, FCA
Barry is an experienced tax and accounting professional. After eleven years he retired at the end of 2006 from his position as Senior Vice President, Taxation at BCE Inc. where he completed a number of complicated tax and M&A transactions spanning multiple jurisdictions. Prior to joining BCE, Barry was the Vice Chairman Tax for KPMG Canada. Barry earned a commerce degree from the University of Windsor and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. He is currently the President of Epilepsy Toronto.
Manuchehr Shirmohamadi, P.Eng
Manuchehr has more than 20 years’ experience in the design and analysis of mechanical equipment and structures for power generation, gas transmission and several other industries. He has designed a number of innovative and high-profile solar projects in North America and Europe, from industrial-scale rooftop PV systems through megawatt-scale concentrator systems. He is also an inventor, with three U.S. patents. Manuchehr earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with minor in Material Science/Corrosion Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in the states of California, Nevada, Washington and New Jersey.
