Coincidence with Load – In places where peak energy use and pricing are determined by demand for air conditioning (i.e. most of North America), solar energy output is highest when demand and prices are highest. In locations where generating output is limited, solar energy systems reduce the need for other types of new generation equipment.

Ability to Locate Near Load – Solar energy is an ideal form of distributed generation, capable of being located on rooftops or unused land, reducing the need for new transmission lines and other grid infrastructure.
