Project Development

CarbonFree works closely with each client from project concept to commissioning and beyond, ensuring that the process is smooth and runs according to plan. Key project development steps include:

Site Assessment

Prior to engagement, we conduct an on-site assessment of your energy requirements and the potential location options for a solar energy system. We also note any structural, utility-related or other considerations which may affect system design or even the viability of the project.

Preliminary System Recommendation

CarbonFree carefully follows the evolution of solar technologies and maintains working relationships with suppliers offering a range of solar solutions. Based on the site assessment and our knowledge of equipment capabilities and applicable incentives, we recommend one or more suitable types of systems.

Project Modelling

We model the project economics using long-term solar data and expected equipment costs. When appropriate, we also compare the financial impact of our customer purchasing the system versus entering into a contract to purchase only the energy generated, with advice about appropriate project structures and ownership.

System Engineering and Equipment Selection

After being engaged as the project developer, we undertake detailed system engineering to specify exactly how a system will operate and what equipment is needed. We also get up-to-date quotes from alternate suppliers for most of the key components required.

Application for Incentives and Approvals

Once the system design has been finalized, we apply for any available incentives and seek all required approvals from the appropriate municipalities or regulatory bodies.
